Why go outside?
Vitamin D, long known to be important for calcium absorbtion and needed for healthy teeth and bones, is found in some foods including fortified margarine adn breakfast cereals, egg yolk and oily fish. But our main sourse of this vitamin is the sun, because our bodies make it when chemicals inthe skin react with the sun's ultraviolet rays.
Thirty minutes a day of exposure to the face and arms is enough. But be careful: too much exposure to hot sunshine around the middle of the day can increase your risk of skin cancer.
