Livewires is a voluntary support group set up to support people in Northern Ireland who have had ICD's (Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillators) fitted. Support, advice and reassurance are given, not only to the patients, but also to their families and carers.

The group was founded in 2004 and has a proper legal Constitution. The listed aims of the group include:

   *Maintaining contact and offering support to people with ICDs.

   *Keeping abreast of current thinking and practice in aftercare.

   *Maintaining contact with professional people including hospital staff, ICD manufacturers,

     insurance companies etc.

   *Interacting with similar groups in the UK and Ireland.

   *Publishing a Newsletter on a regular basis giving information and news to members

   *Organising social gatherings and fund raising events

The Livewires Group is not linked financially to any other voluntary charity group and our aim is be self-supporting. Therefore any monies raised will be for the benefit of the ICD patients, their families and carers in Northern Ireland.
